Background
Shot 22-25 March 1985, this was the second film of what turned out to be the Star Drek Quadrology.
Indoor sets were created in the MWD District Office Conference Rooms & corridors (same as Star Drek 1), and the dungeon set was created at Head Office, Wellington, New Zealand. Outdoor filming was mainly at the Massey Memorial, Mt Victoria. Panoramic sights of Wellington, but no vehicle access, we had to lug the “portable” u-matic video equipment (in 3 LARGE suitcases) up by hand. Original editing was again painstakingly done with two VCR's side by side and a plug in microphone for the overdubs.
For the remastered version, all the original footage was digitally transferred to PC in April 2010. The scenes were then re-edited, cleaned-up, colour corrected, and re-soundtracked by October 2010. All the original Special Effects (FX) and credit sequences were replaced with computer animation.
A long time ago... In a galaxy reasonably close... The Evil Khayn was marooned years ago by Captain Jirk and is out for revenge. Jirk is captured, the rescue party is in mortal danger, the ship is set to explode, and Mr Spook gets sucked off into space...

Trailer
The best visual parts of the film condensed into a 4 minute "teaser"
MovieAll the original cast from Star Drek 1 resumed their roles except for Tony, who was at the time running a pub in Lewisham SE London. Malcolm (originally cast as Bobtoo and a miscellaneous red shirt guy) bravely took on the “Groans” role and shot to instant megastardom. First SD film to feature outdoor scenes
BloopersUncensored funny out-takes from 4 day filming schedule
Extended & Deleted Scenes Extended footage from Ambassadors tour of Engineering, the Bat Runs, and Spooks Log - only a small part of these scenes were used in the 1985 and 2010 versions. The Jirk / Groans materialisation scene was cut right down in the 2010 version, there never was an acceptable “take” and what we had didn’t really work.
Also included are the original SFX scenes and credit sequences that were replaced in the 2010 version. 1985 test shots were made with the Dinky Enterprise used in Star Drek 1, an AMT model kit was used for the final shots
A look behind the scenes filming on days 1-4, showing the set-ups, rehearsals, and background discussions. Interesting to note some of the dialog and scenes in the final print were as a result of these on-the-fly discussions. Like the out-takes, the language used is often VERY "colourful" and completely uncensored
Behind the Scenes - ExtraFly on the wall type recordings from day 1, made with the "portable" u-matic camera. A must for low light & shadow fans! And a short interview with the worlds most fabulous man
The original source tapes had to be time base corrected during the transfer to stabilise the picture, and later colour corrected (much of the original footage was shot with incorrect white balance, which gave scenes a yellowish tinge). Featuring before and after shots of colour and audio correction, setup photos of the new “Smokin’ Guys” and “Spook in space” inserts, and extended shots of the new animated FX.
As with the remastered Star Drek 1, a correctly scaled 2004 Dinky Enterprise model was photographed from various angles, converted to PNG images, then overlaid against photographic backdrops and animated in Adobe After Effects. The ships view screens were designed in Corel Draw and overlaid with animated graphics

World Premiere 1984The World Premiere was held at the old Wellington Tavern, Molesworth Street, Wellington, New Zealand, on Wednesday 15 May1985. An audio tape recording was made at the premiere, although very muffled and quiet in places there were some clearly audible parts. Several photo's were also taken at the premiere, these are presented as a slide show with parts of the audio recording overlaid
